The inspiration behind this series is the Thracian Gladiator Spartacus, who led a slave uprising against the Roman Republic. The Thracians had been persuaded by Claudius Glaber to serve as auxiliaries in the Roman legions in a campaign against the Getae, who had often plundered Thracian lands. However, after Glaber reneges on the deal and switches his attentions from the Getae to attack Mithridates in Asia Minor, the Thracians feel betrayed and mutiny.

Main Reactor delivered all the prosthetics and props for this larger than life period Roman epic. With a mountain of decapitations and physical injuries, we meet the demand for the bloodiest TV show of its time.

Van loads of body parts, pizza boxes filled full of wounds, cuts burns and scars made for 4 busy seasons of brutal deadlines and a mountain of armies to kill.

All delivered on-time and within budget, we kept the needs of this makeup effect beast going.

The story of history's greatest gladiator unfolds with graphic violence and the passion of the women that love them. This is Spartacus.
